Dear Friends and Members of the Sydney Schubert Society,
I am very excited to be able to invite you to the Schubert Society’s “Grand Schubertiade” on August 16 at the Goethe Institute when the splendid pianist Geoffrey Saba will be joined by the young Australian tenor Dominic Walsh for a unique double recital and extended afternoon of Schubert’s music. These two exciting musicians will perform a massive, two-recital program of music including Beethoven’s song cycle An die ferne Geliebte and Schubert’s Schöne Müllerin D 795. Their lieder recital will be followed by Geoffrey Saba’s solo piano performance including Schubert’s Impromptus (D 935) and his Piano Sonatas B major (D 575) and A major (D 959). It promises to be a Schubertiade of historic dimensions in more sense than one and I hope you can be there to enjoy an authentic experience of Schubert’s music.
