Dear friends and members of the Schubert Society, I am writing to remind you about the forthcoming Schubertiade 345 on May 22 commencing at 2.45pm at St. Peter’s Presbyterian Church in North Sydney. The Schubertiade will feature the dynamic young duo, cellist Minah Choe and pianist Ying Ho who are both doctoral students at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
I have known both these exciting young musicians for some time and am very pleased to be able to present them to you. Minah has studied in Sydney with Susan Blake and in Indiana with Janos Starker. Following a number of successes at international competition including the award of the "most promising performer” at the 4th Adam International Cello Competition, Minah is now resident in Sydney and a busy performer and sought after teacher. Pianist Ying Ho has performed extensively throughout Australia, England, Europe, and Israel as a soloist and chamber musician. She has won numerous prizes including First Prize at the Kawai Australasian Youth Concerto Competition where she performed Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No.1 with the Western Australian Youth Orchestra, and Second Prize at the Roma par Jerusalem Prize.
The program of their recital will include Beethoven’s Sonata in D op 102/2, arrangements of songs by Brahms and Schubert’s Arpeggione Sonata as well as his delightful “Moments Musicaux” D 780 arranged for cello and piano by the German cellist Grützmacher.
I hope you and your friends will be able to join us for the Schubertiade on May 22 at 2.45 at St. Peter’s Presbyterian Church, North Sydney and am looking forward to seeing
With warm regards and best wishes,
President, Sydney Schubert Society Inc.
